The title of this post was inspired by Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet” when she tells him “What’s in a name? that which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet”. It means that the names of things don’t affect what they are.
A single but perfect rose
On a few of the many letters my man has sent me he drew “a single perfect rose”. This made me think of Desperate Housewives, when the gardener, John, gave Gaby a single rose and said it was like her because it was perfect. Despite the fact that John and Gaby were having an affair, it was a sweet moment. Aaron is an extremely talented artist and I was so touched that he took the time to draw these extremely detailed and beautiful roses for me. It was a nice prelude to reading his letters.
Here is another extremely beautiful perfect rose he drew for me. He drew this on his phone (wow) and sent it to me in a text! It definitely put a smile on my face and made my day. Props to him for being able to draw on his phone!
Aaron has shown me that a rose by any other form is still as romantic. He didn’t need to send me a bouquet or even a real rose to tell me that he loves me. What matters is that he demonstrated his love for me by thinking of me and ways to make me happy. I can tell he really took his time drawing these roses, and he was thinking of me while he was doing it. And knowing that he thought of me is enough to make me happy.
My artistic skills are nowhere near this, so I haven’t saved the pictures of flowers I have sent him. But trust me they are nowhere as pretty as his. Despite this, I know my silly drawings make him laugh. And that’s all that matters. A simple drawing can put a smile on your S.O.’s face. So next time you’re bored in class doodle a flower and text or email it to them. I assure you it will brighten up their day!
Cute! I especially like the one he did on his phone. I sometimes draw things for my man on the envelope or letter but I usually label them something like “poor interpretation of CN Tower” or “supposed to look like a teacup.” I love when he does cute little doodles on his letters too of stick people holding hands :p Our artistic abilities are about on par hahah.
Yea the only time my drawings are decent looking is when I trace them! lol. Yea stick figures are my thing too 🙂
