Sweeter As The Days Go By

When you’re in a LDR, one of the best feelings is the one at the end of the day. It’s the thought of knowing that you are a day closer to being with your significant other. It’s knowing that you are that much closer to being reunited. You know that as each day goes by, it’s a little sweeter.

I saw this post online (can’t remember where and I tried looking for it but I just couldn’t find it, sorry) about a skittles jar. The idea is an alternative to my post about Hershey Kisses. This is different from the Hershey’s idea because this is a countdown. You could do a picture countdown, or a calendar countdown, but this is sweeter!

For this project I counted how many days (21) until the next time I was going to see my boyfriend and I put 21 skittles in the jar. I used skittles because that’s my boyfriend’s favorite candy. You don’t have to use skittles, you can use whatever your SO’s favorite candy is. Obviously this works better with small candy, but you could use bigger candy bars and put it in a box instead of a jar.

I gave it to him right before I left back to school. Everyday you don’t see your S.O. sucks so much, so I wanted to give him something that would make each day that went by a little sweeter. Sometimes you just need something to remind you to keep going, to remind you of what it is you’re working towards.  This was a visual reminder that the less candy in the jar, the closer we were to seeing each other. I added a little note in it that said:

Eat one Skittles every day. This is to remind you that every day that goes by is a little sweeter because we are a day closer to seeing each other.

What You Need:

  • Little Jar
  • Bag of Skittles
  • Stickie Note

  1. Love this idea 🙂 Also it just inspired a little idea for the book I’m writing. I’m working on a humorous fiction novel that follows three long distance relationships… thanks!
