I’m The Yin To Your Yang

yin-yang

“In Chinese philosophy,  yin and yang, are concepts used to describe how apparently opposite or contrary forces are actually complementary, interconnected and interdependent in the natural world, and how they give rise to each other as they interrelate to one another” (Wikipedia).

We decided to go to a baseball game, Padres v. Giants. The cost of a date like this can depend entirely on how much you want to spend. You can spend as much or as little as you want on tickets. Petco Park has “Park at the Park” where you can have a picnic and watch the game on the giant screen and these tickets are inexpensive. Petco park is right next to the trolley so you don’t have to pay for parking (and it’s good for the environment). You can spend a fortune inside buying beer and snacks or drink before hand and bring your own snacks in your bag.

Although we are both San Diego natives, for some strange reason he likes the San Francisco Giants. I think it’s funny that although I’m the one that lives closer to the Giants, he is the one that likes them. I’m not really into baseball, but going to games is fun. And when it comes to my S.O. I’m willing to try new experiences together. Hopefully when I’m done with school and move back down to SD, we can get season tickets. 🙂

Anyways, we got to our seats to enjoy the game and the lady next to me started chatting me up. She kept saying how it was so cute that we rooted for opposite teams yet we were together. She said we made a cute couple. I know this seems really random but it got me thinking about a conversation my partner and I had before.

The way I see it, there are two types of couples, the ones that are exactly the same and the ones that are complete opposites. We are the latter. I’m not the tom girl type he thought he would end up with, and he isn’t the romantic type I thought I’d end up with. But that’s the great thing about love, we are much more than we could’ve ever hoped for. We don’t always get what we want, sometimes we get lucky and end up with someone way better. I always thought it would be cute to go to a game and wear matching jerseys, but this is so much better. We may be opposites but we are not opposing forces. We are like Yin-Yng, we complement each other.

We complete each other.

P.S. The Giants jersey was his 1 year anniversary present ❤
